Can Use SharePoint be used as out of the box as a BPM(Business process management) tool?

Can SharePoint be used as out of the box as a BPM tool ? ifIf it can, what are the limitation limitations?

I have come across 3rd party tools like K2 which does the job but want to know if sharepointSharePoint can do it on its own ?
