I prefer a minimalist approach with the fewest possible customizations - i.e. fewer headaches & future costs with quicker go-live. User experience is at the heart of everything in the end. You can build a technological marvel, but if your users don't like it or it's difficult to understand and manager, they won't use it and will find another path of less resistance. It's my job to walk the line between form and function, to educate in relatable terms, and allow users the freedom to do their jobs without thinking hard about the how pieces.
