What started as a tool to simply perform my job morphed into a desire to learn more about SharePoint (with less focus on what it was intended to be used for :-) ) and how to make the jobs of others easier, like it did for me, and I've been on that track for the past 12 years. Last five or six is when I began diving into more details of SharePoint which really helped spur me on.

I'll have to say that I've always liked programming and though my field took me into the network side of things for the past 20 years (and I have no regrets) programming has always been there to make my job easier and more efficient. So, now I'm on the developer path and we'll see where that takes me.
