Unfortunately not. The reason you have a thumbnail in SharePoint is that you have exchanged trust between Office Online Server and SharePoint Server. To the best of my knowledge, you can't exchange trust the same way with a Fileshare. And the fileshare doesn't use an IIS website. You can make use of the built-in getpreview.ashx handler to generate thumbnails for your document as well as images. So, for example, if you have uploaded an image in the Images library named test.jpg, then your file path would be something like: https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/test/Images/test.jpg To get the image preview, you can use the below url: ...

As Waqas Sarwar MCSE mentions, this is very easy to do programmatically. You need someone with the following skills: HTML, CSS, XML/JSON, Javascript. Create a script webpart on the SharePoint page and give your developer the following piece of code: _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("myCustomFunctionName"); function myCustomFunctionName() { jQuery.ajax({...

Unfortunately, SharePoint doesn't provide this sort of functionality out of the box. Luckily, SharePoint is flexible enough to allow for custom solutions that can solve this issue. You have to write your own piece of code to get this done.

Some time during the migration some views become corrupted especially for picture libraries. Try to create another View(all items) and test it, If that works then you can delete the default view while making new view as default.

You can set your logo managed property any way you like. In my case I have a special site catalog content type that stores my site info (way easier than using the property bag). What I think you are missing is that the site "preview" is a live view of the site home page in an iFrame. In my case I modified the out of the box Item_Picture display template and ...

When you add a image to Picture Library SharePoint creates a thumbnail for that image and show it in your default view of the list. In response for your question: Yes, the thumbnail URL differ from the URL of the full size image. And how does the thumbnail URL differ from the URL of the full size image. Example: Original URL http://yoursite.com/Images/...

I'm using Sharepoint 2013 and had a similar issue, no thumbnail was displayed. I found that there was a .png file missing. Try editing the properties and make a new thumbnail (see final picture below). Otherwise, read this whole post to troubleshoot the issue. To troubleshoot this, open the Video Library using Windows Explorer. If I show you pictures it'...

After searching for a solution I've located the actual problem. If you look at the attached picture you'll see that the link to the thumbnail preview seems to be broken which is why i get the black boxed "X". So now my new issue is figuring out how to reset or get the script working so that it can pull the proper image from the library.

Based on your attached screenshot. It looks like you are not using Picture Library, and You may use a document library and you have allowed content type and add the Picture content type or any something else. What proves that this is not a default Picture Library : in default, you can find New Picture link rather than new document. So If you don't have any ...

No 2007 handy but depending on your browser coverage you can easily do that with CSS: .ms-vb-icon a { pointer-events: none } .ms-vb-icon is a sample selector from icons in document libraries, you need to identify how to target the column that contains the link with the thumbnail using your Web Developer Tools/Inspector. https://jsfiddle.net/dmhLc3rx/ ...

you can customize it using CSR : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/21521.promoted-links-wrap-and-size-tiles-with-client-side-rendering.aspx Note: if you are configure the apps on your share point application, you can find a lot of tiles apps on app store

From personal experience: Editting .xsl (like vwstyles.xsl or fldtypes.xsl) files of SharePoint requires a recycle of the app pool. Only when you recycle the app pool will SharePoint load the files again from disk. Otherwise it gets it from its cache.

Is it just a 'person or group' column that's set to show the profile picture. If so you can go to list setting, modify the column and change the 'Show Field' option so that the users picture isn't included.
