If you examine the link to the document with IE developer tools you'll see that it is a hyperlink and a JavaScript function attached to the onClick event. This client-side ...

When you run a site collection in SharePoint 2010 mode, you are running with the 2010 feature set. Most 2013-specific features are not available when you are running in 2010 mode.

After a fair amount of Google-fu I finally found a MS KB article that helped. You have to open Regedit.exe and add a new DWORD value OpenDocumentsReadWriteWhileBrowsing to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\Internet and set it to 1. Now clicking on a link will open the file in edit mode, which is fine for my purposes.

The SharePoint / Office integration works best with Internet Explorer because the ActiveX that is required by many SharePoint components only runs in IE. Other browsers use different APIs. If you want the full functionality of Office with SharePoint you will need to use IE. IE 11 is actually not all that bad.

In my experience I have found a few things cause the slow down and login behaviors raised by the original question. Slow downs - may be caused by potentially performance configurations by the SharePoint admin (for ways to get the server changes made ref: Fine Tuning Your SharePoint 2010 Environment – Front End Optimizations) ; or by having lists with ...

you cannot paste the images into sharepoint pages directly, Images cannot be rendered as HTML so cannot be pasted. I had the same issue on my SP 2010 VM. I fixed this by starting WebClient and few other services from central admin and then restarting the machine. Then it started saving the documents to document library.

There's a much easier way that I just discovered - edit the multi-line column and save it as plain text only. Go back in to edit it a second time, and you can change it to a single line of text.

2

I have encountered the same question with you. I don't want imported text columns tobe multi-line, since multi-line columns cannot be added into a calculation column. There seems have no official solution for this, but you can try the work around by this post: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices/browse_thread/thread/...

How you create the Unit column on the customized Team Site? Have you checked to see if the Unit Lookup column that you are trying to match had its items entered in the exact same order? I had a similar issue where my lookups all died because the lookup value is not exactly the same. In your example if Procurement in the lookup list was entered as the 4th in the list it would need to be matched like this: 4;#...

If you wan't to save it in SharePoint you need to check if the site exits, if the file already exists etc. That is - you need to contact the server. The same thing happens when you save locally, but the local file subsystem is way faster than the HTTP protocol, network and SharePoint. This is something you have to live with when using SharePoint. You could add Event Receiver (on ItemAdded), that after you add item to RPM list would update item with value from SCG list. Automatic populating of field in Edit form is not possible, AFAIK, but in receivers you can do everything with it.

The only reason to use Office 64 bit is if you're working with HUGE documents (usually excel or access) which are to big to losd in the 32 bit version. Otherwise you should always use 32 bit as there are several peices of functionallity which isn't implemented in the 64 bit version, especially around the browser plugins which SharePoint takes advantage of. ...

No it's not possible ootb, but you can get a better view if you synchronize the SharePoint calendar to the client software Outlook 2013. That way you are able to see both calendars side by side.

The problem is that OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive Pro) will not sync with a SharePoint 2010 server.
