I understood that metadata/property sync is bi-directional in the SharePoint library.
- Suppose title metadata is updated in the SharePoint Online library for a document. In that case, it automatically syncs with the title property of the Word document, and the title property in the word document gets updated.
- If a document is uploaded to the SharePoint library manually and if that document contains title property, then it will overwrite the title metadata of the document in the SharePoint library
Also, I have observed that bi-directional sync is not happening in a few libraries. What could be the possible reason, the sync is disabled in a few libraries in SharePoint Online?
- When updating the SharePoint title metadata, then the word property - title is not getting sync with it
- When uploading a document (which has Title property) in these libraries, it does not override the document Title metadata in SharePoint.
I want to understand if we update only a few metadata (for example Status) in SharePoint for a word document where the content type has these columns - (Title, Description, Approver, Reviewer, Process, Number, Functions, Status), and if a word file has few similar columns (Title, Functions, Status) in the property, how Sync will behave?
