I have a SharePoint 2016 on premise environment containing two document libraries, both of which have the same 10 metadata columns, 4 of which are Managed Metadata columns, and a total of about 10,000 documents. I also have a custom enterprise search page (created by a consultant who is no longer available) that contains several search refiners. When I perform a search using the "Find a file" search box on the document library page, I get the correct search result; say, 200 documents. But when I perform the same search in the enterprise search box on the same page (which points to the custom enterprise search page mentioned above), LOTS of documents show up that should not be in the search result; approximately 5,000 documents. I found a PowerShell script that performs an enterprise search and it returns the correct search results - 200 documents. So that works correctly, so it appears that the problem is not with the search service application or the search crawl index, but with the enterprise search page. I used Central Admin to reset the search index, then ran another full crawl, but the enterprise search still returns the same list of approximately 5,000 documents. I have done a lot of research and have not found a solution. Any suggestions would be appreciated
