I am trying to publish the InfoPath 2013 form on SharePoint 2013 but its failing with error "Cannot update library or list". This form was already published on live with same columns.

Looking at ULS while publish is in progress, we see the following:

  1. First two exceptions are seen as "duplicate field name". If we look for these GUID, they are inbuilt fields and we do not have control on adding duplicate fields.

SOAP exception: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: A duplicate field name "11851948-b05e-41be-9d9f-bc3bf55d1de3" was found.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFieldCollection.AddFieldAsXmlInternal(String schemaXml, Boolean addToDefaultView, SPAddFieldOptions op, Boolean isMigration, Boolean fResetCTCol)
at Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.ListSchemaImpl.ParseAndCommit(SPFieldCollection fields, SPViewCollection views, SPView defaultView, XmlTextReader reader, CommitType type, XmlTextWriter xmlwResult, String AddToView)

  1. For below error, we have already tried to remove many columns and publish again. In our form, we only have 214 columns now.

The column cannot be added because the total size of the columns in this list exceeds the limit. Please delete some other columns first.

  1. Then it shows similar errors like below for all fields we added as columns:

SPRequest.AddField: UserPrincipalName=i:0).w|s-1-5-21-2307503523-2012019420-1393426717-4128, AppPrincipalName= ,bstrUrl=http://sharepoint.company.com ,bstrListName={F20A6994-9433-4547-B8B6-CF2A2701B6B9} ,bstrSchemaXml=

Looks like for some reason it is trying to create new column for all fields again.

In past, we have made various updates in this form and never had this issue.

Any idea what could be causing this and how can we resolve it?
