Following an issue where the Word document was locked, preventing my colleague to save, I told him to keep his document open, and I undid the check out, and told him to make the check out again. Then he saved his document.

When he reopened the document, almost all changes were lost although the document was fine when saving, like if the Word document merged its last modifications to the older version of the document on SharePoint, losing ~90% of the changes.

Anyone has a thought of how to recover this file (if possible), and how could this happen? I thought SharePoint would not merge documents together...

We tried looking in the Unsaved Files folder of Word, and looking in the Library with Explorer for older versions (there was none).
