My environment consists of two servers, which are as follows:

  1. SharePoint 2013, installed on Windows 2008 R2
  2. Workflow Manager 1.0 (version 2.0.20922.0), installed on Windows 2012 R2. This box does NOT have SharePoint installed.

Both servers have the same version of Workflow Manager Client 1.0 (2.0.51113.0) installed. Latest updates are installed (for client, Service Bus, etc).

After running the Register-SPWorkflowService command on the SharePoint 2013 server -- Register-SPWorkflowService -SPSite "https://SharePoint Site" -WorkflowHostUri "https://Workflow Manager:12290" -Force -- I get the following message:

The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found

Please note that I am using https, not http.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can get this to work on another environment -- 1 SP server, 1 Workflow Management server -- using http.

are you able to connect to same workflow manager in different farm or separate workflow manager? I would Install the Workflowmanager 1.0 cu2 refresh. – Waqas Sarwar MVP May 24 '16 at 18:31

Waqas is right. I came across this several times before, the workflow manager refresh is what fixes it. is the other environment windows server 2008R2? – Mike May 24 '16 at 18:55
  • Workflowmanager 1.0 cu2 refresh is already installed on both servers. SharePoint is on Windows Server 2008 R2. Workflow Manager is on Windows 2012 R2. – Craig Moran May 24 '16 at 19:00
  • I take it back. I thought it was installed. It appears that it wasn't. – Craig Moran May 24 '16 at 19:02
  • That's what it was, thanks. I saw all the posts about installing this. I could've sworn it had been installed. Once I installed it, the problem went away. Thanks. – Craig Moran May 24 '16 at 19:27
