ran STSADM.EXE -o Sync -listolddatabases 30 again, and now it runs without error and shows no entries. Also "User Information List" shows no entries. I am noticing in the windows event log an error along the regaridng ` Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (...` not sure if that could be related?

STSADM.EXE -o Sync -deleteolddatabases 30 gave A failure occurred during the processing of this command. Check diagnostic logs for more information. I'm not sure where to find the diagnostic logs for stsadm. The "User Information List" was empty. Are you aware of equivalent powershell commands for these stsadm commands?
