Jun 30, 2014 at 10:21 | comment | added | Brandon C. | Right, but my wording was wrong, so I wanted to make an update before anyone else gets the wrong idea, and try to find how to do it correctly :) I will include the rest of the info inside my answer as well!

This applies to CSOM if you do $fieldname.indexed = $true; $fieldname.EnforcedUniqueValues = $true and then update the field $fieldname.Update()

Jun 30, 2014 at 10:03 | comment | added | bimbob | I understood the link provided and for me he supplied a sufficient and correct answer. Understand that a few tweaks could be made to make it a better answer
Jun 30, 2014 at 10:03 | comment | added | Vadim Gremyachev | Another point, $fields is a field collection (!), you could specify EnforceUniqueValues for a field, not a field collection
Jun 30, 2014 at 10:00 | comment | added | Vadim Gremyachev | The link you have provided is not correct, the OP is asking about CSOM, not SSOM.
