On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

We have a chatroom for this election! Please join us in the 2021 SharePoint Stack Exchange Moderator Election Chat.

Arsalan Adam Khatri

I have been a member of this excellent community for around 10 years now, this has helped me grow in my professional career. The community means a lot to me and I have it pinned in my browser tab to visit it daily (well almost).

Being a moderator is a responsible job and I will do my best to give proper time and treat the fellow members with respect. I usually visit the moderation section and raise possible flags to give back to the community. I believe if I become a moderator I will get more chances to serve the community.

During my journey, here are some stats to show my participation:

  • 14.5K reputation

  • Member for 10 years, 3 months

  • Visited 2142 days (approx 6 years)

  • ~16m people reached

  • 673 Answers

  • 17 Questions

  • 396 posts edited

  • 537 helpful flags

  • 585 votes cast

Please vote for me in the coming elections.

Dhruvil Prajapati

Hi everyone, I am a regular user of the community since last 1.5 years looking to get more knowledge so, I spent time reading new posts and provide solution as best of my knowledge.

whenever I am visiting the community I try to do following.

  • I see that there are few questions which did not get that much attention due to lack of information or other reasons, so I try to provide more updates on that so it becomes easier for community members to share their ideas.

  • Review the first posts and first answers to make sure there are not irrelevant questions and answers available.

  • If any of the question is getting so much discussion in the comments then would suggest to move it to the chat room and request community members to continue over there.

The above listed points are something similar to what a moderator needs to do along with some additional responsibilities like, removing spams, maintaining the discipline of the community.

I believe I will be good candidate for this as I usually do these things which gives me more scope to get more knowledge from different questions asked by the fellow members.

In very simple words, being moderator I will complete my all duties. I will follow the policies mentioned here like be kind with new users giving them proper explanation that what content they should not add in their Q&A. At the same time I will redirect them to the queries what they are looking for and deleting their current Q&A. Sometimes false language is also big issue, some user cross professional limits and take everything too friendly. I will remove harsh words or I will make them inappropriate for community.

  • I will move huge amount of comments to chat part and ask them to put key points or valuable information in Answer section.

  • If I am completely assured that the question is already on community with too much answers. I will set reputation, that this question need x reputation to answer in a new way. I personally believe we can solve complex problems with more and more simple solutions :)

  • Instead of repetitive content I will promote fresh content with more values. Answer which will more accurate with current problems.

This is the best practice which I already following but after being moderator I will ask community members to do same.

This election is over.
