On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

We have a chatroom for this election! Please join us in the 2021 SharePoint Stack Exchange Moderator Election Chat.

Utkarsh Dubey

In very simple words, being moderator I will complete my all duties. I will follow the policies mentioned here like be kind with new users giving them proper explanation that what content they should not add in their Q&A. At the same time I will redirect them to the queries what they are looking for and deleting their current Q&A. Sometimes falsa language is also big issue, some user cross professional limits and take everything too friendly. I will try to remove harsh words or I will make them inappropriate for community.

Questionnaire
  1. How would you deal with a user who produced a steady stream of valuable answers, but tends to generate a large number of arguments/flags from comments?

[Move his comments to chat part and ask him/her to put key points or valueable information in Answer section.]

  1. How would you handle a situation where another mod closed/deleted/etc. a question that you feel shouldn’t have been?

[If I am completely assured that this question is already on community with too much answers. I will set reputation, that this question need x reputation to answer in a new way. I personally believe we can solve complex problems with simple solution :)]

  1. In your opinion, what do moderators do?

[Instead of repetitive content I will promote fresh content with more values. Answer which will more accurate with current problems, e.g. some examples are older and not working in current problems]

  1. A diamond will be attached to everything you say and have said in the past, including questions, answers and comments. Everything you will do will be seen under a different light. How do you feel about that?

[Responsible, therefore I will assure my comments and post match perfection.]

  1. In what way do you feel that being a moderator will make you more effective as opposed to simply reaching 10k or 20k rep?

[If I will swim in a sea and I survive, by default I will become more effective and skillful]

The SharePoint StackExchange has provided help to me many times throughout my professional career. I would love to help others by contributing to the overall quality if Questions, Answers, and General Information available to the SharePoint community.

Questionnaire
  1. How would you deal with a user who produced a steady stream of valuable answers, but tends to generate a large number of arguments/flags from comments?

I would communicate to the user how valuable their feedback and contributions have been and what must be done to keep the quality of the information available in the forum. This includes minimizing subjective and irrelevant input.

  1. How would you handle a situation where another mod closed/deleted/etc. a question that you feel shouldn’t have been?

If possible, I would communicate to the mod why I believe the question should not have been closed. Other moderators may have good reason to audit conversations that i'm not aware of, in the case where I disagree, it could be an opportunity for me or another moderator/member to learn.

  1. In your opinion, what do moderators do?

Help maintain and establish the quality and engagement of the community.

  1. A diamond will be attached to everything you say and have said in the past, including questions, answers and comments. Everything you will do will be seen under a different light. How do you feel about that?

So proud!

  1. In what way do you feel that being a moderator will make you more effective as opposed to simply reaching 10k or 20k rep?

rep is great, for me... but being a moderator would help me to give back and help a community that I really love, grow and shine.

This election is over.
