do Calculated columns work on an infopath form based list? @April D, that what I was writing all about: 1)when you use Infopath template design from Infopath Designer avoiding to do it from sharepoint side; 1a)no need in Calculated column either set from sharepoint side or in Calculated Value control set from Infopath Designer for doing the same |

Infopath: Copy calculated value to list field Saga continued but my point is that there is no necessity to create sharepoint calcilated columns. This all being done more easily directly in Infopath designer without meddling in the "help" intermediary engagement from the sharepoint side |

do Calculated columns work on an infopath form based list? Infopath form is hard-linked to underlying sharepoint list (columns) through noneditable main data connection source, in case of Sharepoint List Form Infopath type. So, if something cannot be done (or is screwed) from considerations in Infopath Designer, then it is screwed also from Sharepoint side governed by published Infopath template. And vice versa. The phrase: "The question is about avoiding InfoPath...since using an InfoPath calculation" is oxymoron. It is impossible to avoid using Infopath while using Infopath. Either use Infopath or don't but not both |

do Calculated columns work on an infopath form based list? Data source is represented by data fields. Controls are visualization frames for data fields as data sources. There can be data fields/sources without controls and controls with data sources/fields. Calculated value control does not have underlying data source/data field. Only data fields can be represented assharepoint columns |

Generate Infopath files from SP list -1 The OP asked about Infopath library forms (not Sharepoint List Forms) getting data from sharepoint list as data source/connection (into Infopath library form). Your link is about customizing Sharepoint List Forms which do not have even XML data forms (as Infopath library forms do). This is completely irrelevant, redundant and misleading to the task of the question asked as well as there is no need to do any coding or applications to acomplish this |

PreSaveAction function not working in infopath 2010 form So, do it from Infopath code behind. If you still want to do it externally, in ASPX,then this question is not related to Infopath |

PreSaveAction function not working in infopath 2010 form It is possible to do this codeless - with rules. If you want to do it through js, then you obviously should reconsider your requirements and probably your understanding what is Infopath for and how it is used |
