comment Item-level permissions on document library
The only issue I can think of is what Nadeem is saying... Users will not see the folders, since they are not created by them. So they can not upload items in the folder... I'm not sure tho, since I have no idea whether that Read/WriteSecurity is affecting the folders or not. Is this the issue your facing?

comment Item-level permissions on document library
Hi DeeMac, I do not realy get the problem you try to explain. Having subfolders should not change the functionality of Write & ReadSecurity, no? Could you maybe explain abit more what kind of problem you are facing. Why would you want to go for item level permissions?

comment MySite Title always changes to Site Collection admin display name
Sorry, changing the title when the users visist the site is far for a solution. If your mysite is never visited, the title will be wrong. Meaning if, somewhere in ur farm, you have a webpart displaying all the mysites with the title of the site, this titles will be all wrong.

comment Trying to convert a SP2010 document version to a PDF generates SPException: List does not exist
A workaround could be to create a kind of "collection" library to collect all the documents which need to be converted. Coz you basicly want a "snapshot" for when the approval is started. Users will constantly continue to work on the document, so u might need to take a copy and store it in the temp library...

This is coming from inside AddFile method using reflector: pastie.org/4701804 So it queries sharepoint.

comment Trying to convert a SP2010 document version to a PDF generates SPException: List does not exist
I think it is rather weird btw, exporting old versions to pdf. Maybe a functionally rework might make it even easier. I have no idea about what you are trying to do but that's just a feeling i have. Can you maybe work around this using the Binary File Data? And don't use the Word Automation Service to convert ? Since this will only work using the latest version and only if your file is in a SPDocumentLibrary

Have u taken a look with reflector at the code inside AddFile? Probably it will look for a SPList based on the url. Since your published version url is no valid Library it wil throw a valid exception. Have you tried using a library for your temporary file (the version you want to convert?)

comment Programmaticly updating SPFileVersion.Properties Hashtable
Hi, sorry for the very very late response. This was a low priority issue. Does this hack give me the possibility to copy seperate versions. I do not simply want to modify the checkin comments. The problem is that while doing a move from RMS library to NON RMS library (which is not supported normally) I lose all my version history. All metadata is merged into 1 version (like a copy). But we do not want this.

comment custom action rights
Have u tried giving the particular user AddListItem rights on the list, and check if one user (who has that right) CAN see the button? While the others still cant? I will check on my sharepoint tomorrow morning and Will let you know what i got out of it...

comment custom action rights
Could you post your custom action please ? Have you used List or ContentType registration? I think if you use List reegistration, that it will look for AddItem rights on the LIST (not on item). So you might need to register it on the Folder content type.

comment jQuery to modify SharePoint 2010 Column Width
Have you tried putting your selector line inside the "ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded" block? Because your selector will fail to retrieve anything before its loaded... Or have you tried putting it inside the "DoCustomizations" method? Since it's there for a reason

comment SharePoint 2010 - Best practices: how to handle assemblies [Discussion]
I've updated the post, maybe you understand my point now ? Basicly: Your SharePoint solution project will generate a WSP file, in the GAC an assembly with the same name should be found (if you did not change the wsp file name ofcourse). Now some people are buidling there solution so that this dll (the one with the same name as the wsp) will not be deployed to the GAC. => Making sure the Empty SharePoint Solution DOES NOT contain ANY .cs file.

comment How do use MyWebpart in EventReceiver?
It's explained. It's not my code but I manage to understand it. It's a place to store some values for eacht webpart. U can change this to a xmlfile, database, SPList, or a generic collection... This code is loaded a webpart based on its name, because we need to know its asembly and classname we are storing those values in "ConfigFactory" for easy accessing

comment Caching SPListItems with Permissions
Does this need any special threatment? Aslong as you do not elevate your code, the correct "version" will be cached (because of the users permissions)?
