15 maximum before postponing... interesting. I see that there are indeed some important concerns for choosing between the two, and the complexity of processing. Thank you much, this should help me write this up proper! I'll still see about trying what I can to use timer jobs instead, but I got the kind of answer I was truly looking for.

I appreciate the nudge towards a more efficient solution for the general situation, but unless my understanding is in error (which is plausible), I don't believe timer jobs contain the full flexibility and ease of modification I'll need for this and any future features that will mimic this functionality. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

comment Can I change the file extension of a document that is already in a document library?
Hey, that works perfectly! I uploaded the correct PDF, and then deleted the old version (the new version has all the same data carried over, so it becomes safe to delete the bad file). Thanks a bunch! Now to implement that blocker...

comment Can I export a SharePoint 2007 list to an Excel file subdivided into separate worksheets?
Well, I'll be making the sheets through the object model, so creating views is unnecessary. Thanks for pointing out this SDK, it will work very well.

Using this method, is it necessary to access these views? Or could I just programmatically create them behind the scenes, use aforementioned SDK to create the Excel file, and have no one the wiser of how it was accomplished? If I need to manually access each view through the UI, it will be problematic as the field we are subdividing on can have upwards of 30 values.
