comment How can we copy data from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint ONLINE 2013?
Lists can also be exported to Excel, and then use that Excel file as template to create a new list (with the data)

comment Can a content type item inherit sibling column values from lookup column item?
If both Column A and Site Column B are in the same content type, then you can add one of them as a lookup and select the other as a dependent column, where I'm pretty sure it will be correctly filled automatically even if it's hidden

comment How to encapsulate code in SharePoint 2010 and make it accessible across multiple solutions
common DLL or web service, if you update the signature of the code you are using in them you'll need to update anything that calls it. Still, this is the recommended approach to modularize / isolate common code and increase reuse. Your common library needs to be stable and well-planned.

comment How to encapsulate code in SharePoint 2010 and make it accessible across multiple solutions
If you update your class library, you only need to update your solutions IF you have changed the signature of the interfaces or methods they use in the class library. e.g. if your "Common.dll" class library has a Log(string msg) method used by all your solutions, and you decide to update it to Log(string, boolean), you will need to update all solutions. The way to deal with that is to version your common library and have multiple versions side by side..

comment Can the list view's XslLink property contain a web address?
I think Dave was suggesting the manual approach just to confirm the path would work in the Style Library. I'm pretty sure I've used custom XslLink pointing to a file in the Style Library before, it should work. Once you can confirm the correct format through the browser, you'll be one less step away from your solution. OTOH, the blog's template is notoriously hard to customize, a lot of it is hardcoded. You might also have some luck with JsLink (but it would mean rewriting your custom layout)

Any particular reason why you don't add Site Column B into Content Type Y? Since it looks like you want to display it in the list view? If you don't want users to have to enter it, you could make it hidden for that content type (or ShowInEditForm/ShowInNewForm = false) and still show it in the view

James that is not correct. You cannot have a view that handles more than the list view threshold, regardless of the paging. The query is indeed handling all 10k items at some point. Alvin's answer is actually more true.

comment First SharePoint server in farm is WFE or application?
You sound like you are installing them by running the setup manually. You should not. See AutoSPInstaller scripts for a proper installation. The 1st server is whatever role you give it.

comment Difference in clientcontext.load() and clientcontext.executeQueryAsync() in javascript for SP
@John-M Yes excellent comment, I didn't look at the tags :S. One could also use Promises to sort of get around the spaghetti code of async calls and callbacks.
