Been interested in computers since my first trial in Basic in 1987. Ever since then worked in computer related business, either as a super user, designer or a programmer.

Main interest at the moment is SharePoint.SE and UserExperience.SE.

comment Error while trying to Import Term Set using .CSV file
Hi and welcome to SP.SE Naim. Your answer may very well answer the question, but on this site, we like to add more of the solution in the content as the link may break in the future. There is no problem adding the link as reference, though. Nice to see you on our site!

comment How can I get the ID of the connected Item of ListView?
My idea was to follow the code through the process and see where you lose context. But I found another post, explaining the same, but using plain JavaScript instead: var ctx = SP.ClientContext.get_current(); var items = SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedItems(ctx); I probably missed the ClientContext previous. Read the section Get Selected Item Context

Good! Maybe you only need to add the groups or users to the root site collection your moving to? Check permissions in Site Settings > Users and Groups. I have confidence in that you will solve this :)

Nice question @LukeP. Is User Profile Service Application configured and up an running? If not, is there a reason (aka policy) prohibiting you to use UPSA?

@xdumaine Have you tried iterate through the properties of ctx.CurrentItem properties? for(prop in ctx.CurrentItem) { alert(prop + “ “ + ctx.CurrentItem[prop]) }

comment Are there any SharePoint virtual machines available from Microsoft?
If you have Windows 8.x you can enable Hyper-V in the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features by clicking "Turn Windows features on or off". When Hyper-V is enabled, start by installing Windows Server, SQL Server and last SharePoint. Preferably by using [AutoSPInstaller]( autospinstaller.codeplex.com) from Codeplex.

comment Are there any SharePoint virtual machines available from Microsoft?
Hi and welcome to SP.SE, Naveen. To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft doesn't supply virtual maschines for SharePoint development purposes. But there are useful guides, such as Setting Up the Development Environment for SharePoint 2010 on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008‌. Feel free to ask more questions on setting up the development environment. Nice to see you here!

comment User Profile Service will not Start
I had a similar problem on my development environment (WS2012), and the customer production environment (WS2008R2). I solved it using Harbar's Rational Guide to implementing SharePoint Server 2010 User Profile Application. It works on both SharePoint Server 2013 Standard and Enterprise. Try the guide, and don't leave out any step!

I'm Sorry, but I don't know how to solve your problem. I still hope for somebody else to answer the question you have. If not today, probably on Monday.

Hi and welcome to SP.SE! You have a very interesting question there, which I myself would like to have an answer on. If I would guess, I would place my bets on PowerShell, but I haven't seen anything yet. Nice to see you here!

Hi and welcome to SP.SE Jason. You have a good question, but to be able to answer it we need a little more detail. Could you supply the error message from JavaScript Console, and also the failing source code. With that information added to the question, I'm confident that you will get guidance. Nice to see you on our site!

comment CAML query on external list: access denied by business connectivity services
This is a good question, and I think you are right in your assumptions. However, I can't see in your code that you assign properties anywhere in your code sample. Also (a long shot) have you set Metadata Store Permission?

Hi and welcome to SharePoint.StackExhange Brendan! I think you have asked a good question here, and I believe you'll get an answer soon. If you want to, you can improve your question by adding which SharePoint version you're using, what template your web has, containing your blog. I'm happy to see you here!

@KitMenke Thank you! My idea to keep new users on the site circles around what we already got but don’t use as much. New users often run into trouble since their question seldom is unique, and it gets closed for various reasons. This is hard for new users and a bit excluding. I’d do my best to keep a friendly tone, and help new users in comments on their own answer, where they can interact. I would also help them by editing their question to show how a good question looks like here. Also I would continue to up vote new users question, to get them to get a taste of how the rep system works.

comment Does documents on file server require a search-center to be visible on searching?
@PirateEric I tried to add a file server as Result Source (Scope in 2010), but it wasn't an option. Only Exchange, OpenSearch, Remote or Local Farm are available technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn186229.aspx
