So I assumed from the error contents previously that it wasn't possible to map o365 to a drive... pleasantly surprised! Googling this now and making it happen. I'll leave this for a few more days as I did bounty it seeking a OneDrive solution but will set a reminder to award this to you if nothing else comes up in the next few days.

I didn't think this was possible - each time I try to map the drive I get an access denied error. My SharePoint main collection is in the trusted sites list - do I need to add every subsite into here that I want to map as well?

comment All internal field names in the farm incremented in SharePoint Online… why?
Thanks! After implementing here are my notes for future readers: #1 looks like the best approach, updating to use this now. Although #2 looks viable I think that anybody replicating a form without background on this issue would likely reintroduce the problem if they missed that I had done this. #3 unfortunately isn't easy given how these fields are rendered (you can't give them custom classes) and you might as well go with approach #1 if you were to overcome this by wrapping it in a new div with a class of its own.

@Akhoy Unfortunately you can't give them a class name given how they're rendered. In the end I ended up encapsulating them in a div and targeting them from that div name.
