is it possible to rename the WSS_Logging database for sp2010? We currently are doing separate instances, but I was just wondering if something could be done for WSS_Logging. I'm gathering the answer is "Nope." |

A basic “send an email” workflow template? I gave up and gave in to this very solution, producing the workflow in SPD for the persons in question. It did allow me the opportinity to embed the form contents into the resulting email, instead of just a link back to the AllItems.aspx page for the list. |

A basic “send an email” workflow template? I did consider "Alert Me", but in this case, the recipients are a mail distribution list. I should have been clearer in my question. Still, it's a good enough workaround for those times when I have one specific person wanting notification, and they are content with a notification. |

painless way to display hyperlink as url? Leaving the descriptions blank would work fabulously, were it for a new list. Unfortunately, this is for an existing list that has a lot of entries in it. Tried editing in Datasheet View, and you can indeed right-click on the field and pick Hyperlink > Edit Hyperlink and get to the split URL / Description menu to strip out the description. That does take a bit of the sting out of it. |

People picker finds group, then says no exact match found I haven't called MS yet, but for now did find a kludge. My workaround, while not optimal was this: - At the site collection level, I dumped and re-created the group, and at that time, assigned the desired permission level to it. - I enabled inheritance on the desired list permissions, which brought in all the groups for the collection, including the desired group with the desired permission level - I then broke inheritance on the list permissions, and removed all the other unwanted groups. While not optimal, this did get me out of my immediate jam. |

People picker finds group, then says no exact match found I was in the process of typing in a question when your question popped up as a possible similar quest. It ain't similar, it is EXACTLY the same problem I'm having. Identical. While I see there are no replies yet, by any chance have you found a solution? I'm 99% ready to submit a ticket in with MS and $ for the answer, if one exists. |

painless way to display hyperlink as url? Thank you, vgrem. I'm accepting this as the solution and plan on making use of it. I bet we can both agree it's far from painless, though. Does Microsoft expect the typical SharePoint user to do this sort of stuff? I should think not. Maybe this is something they'll add in, what, SharePoint 2016? Ugh. |
