comment How can I add an app instance programmatically or declaratively?
I found the server side call a few days ago actually, and for some really odd reason I thought you were after a client side variant.

comment Deleting lists upon feature deactivation
You don't need to use RunWithElevatedPrivileges to do this - instantiate a new SPSite using the SystemAccount user token instead. Never use RunWithElevatedPrivileges if all you work with is SharePoint object model code in the delegate.

comment Are there any Specific Configuration Changes to Consider when Building an App for Sharepoint Online?
"Configuration changes", how were you handling configuration before? You have a lot more flexibility in Apps nowadays.

comment jQuery to hide columns in a view
You can still use this technology (JSLink) to render exact what each row will output. You can then test the values of other fields in the row (such as the password type) and decide how to render the password, if at all.

JSLink is absolutely awesome, btw, if you havent' used it before, have some JavaScript knowledge and despise XSLT from previous versions of SharePoint, then JSLink is the best thing ever.

In that case I would use JSLink (zimmergren.net/technical/…) you have control over the logic that renders the output of each time. You might have to manually rebuild your layout as the boxed style, but at least you can do something with the fields depending on the values of other fields.

comment Where/How Do I Add Backbone.js to Home.aspx Without Visual Studio
Try again to add a <script /> tag inside a Script Editor Web Part. You might need two, one to reference your library and the second with the code you want to run (in this case, the simply alert() in the document ready function.

comment Performance: adding file via Module vs code
I'd deploy them via modules - for the simple reason being most developers do it this way - your code is easier understood by those who will maintain it in future.

comment Default.aspx via code?
As a note, if there is no good or bad recommendations either way for this answer, then I suggest that you do whatever you do for other files added to the site - that is, keep things consistent.

comment Getting file name being upoloaded in ItemAdding
For reference, you get the errors you stated because the file nor the item exists yet in the content database because the Add operation hasn't yet been completed. Why are the properties even there, then? Lazy developers, same object (SPItemEventProperties) is used across all event receivers.
