comment Large form submit causes web part error
If i'm reading that right, you're only submitting ~97KB back to the server. That alone shouldn't cause any issues.

What 'search API' are you referring to? SharePoint APIs?

comment Need to upload 10gb in a doc library?
Make sure if you do use SharePoint that you are also aware of versioning. In SP 2010, with versioning on, a simple change of some metadata will create new copies of the large file.

comment Find and Replace Word
I see. One issue with doing it in Javascript is that the search crawler will still index and store the old company name. This could cause much confusion for users seeing search results. If I were in your position, given something as important as a company name, I would look to use powershell to attempt to update the content at a large scale level. I've edited my answer as such.

I haven't tried that exact combo myself, but according to this question it should work: stackoverflow.com/questions/13918826/…

comment SharePoint REST API call with more than 500 rows
I don't have access to a 2013 farm for testing at the moment, but if you use the web developer tools in IE or Chrome, you can see the response and get an idea of the object model.

comment Workflow which should run automaticly, does not
Make sure the work flow isn't just running and erroring out. Check the work flow history on an item to make sure.

comment Linking data from one SharePoint List to Another
Yes, this sounds like the most straightforward approach. Add a lookup column to list B which references the list A item.

comment Currency Data in a Workflow variable rounds to nearest dollar, want to have cents, too
Is CalcAmtSpent also 'number'? One thing you can do is have a 'log' statement after each step, outputting the variable. You then can look at the workflow history to see these values. Once you are 100% sure which step is producing the issue, it will be easier to debug.

comment Running Sharepoint 2013 farm env. on a 1 tier setup. Need to migrate from 1 tier to 2 tier
I've done this for SP2010. In my process I was able to skip step 6 above because in step 5 I mapped an alias from the 'old' database name to the 'new' database name. Therefore, all of SharePoint's existing configuration would work as-is.

comment How to make a file in a document library not visible to certain users?
I may be wrong, but on the surface I don't think this is possible. I'm guessing you are referring to multiple xls files that reference other files. When excel tries to reference the 'master' file, it is doing so via the active user's credentials. So, that user must be given permissions to the master file. Since the user has permissions to the master file, they'll also be able to navigate directly to the master file if they know the path. There are things you could do to make it more difficult for the user to 'find' the master file, but in the end, the user will always be able to view it.

As seen on the following link, that problem happens when using a C# app, but won't happen via powershell: sharepointblogs.be/blogs/vandest/archive/2011/06/28/…

comment Edit Item Form Dropdown
If jQuery isn't an option to you, MdMazzotti's answer above can be implemented with OOTB functionality. From a broader perspective than just this one question, I'd say getting to know jQuery will help you a great deal in tackling SharePoint issues such as this.

comment Get a list View GUID by View name using JSOM
It has get_id(). Click 'Properties' under 'Members' from that link and you'll see that the API actually calls 'getter methods' to access each property. More info here: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj245968.aspx

comment Get a list View GUID by View name using JSOM
It sounds like that object is indeed the view. Try to access view.get_title () and it should be your view name. See the following page for the object properties: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj245986.aspx

comment Get a list View GUID by View name using JSOM
You can use the enumerator to loop through the views and identify the one with the matching name. At that point, you can reference its GUID. You can also call 'getByTitle()' from the view collection to get the named view. I edited my answer to reflect that.

try replacing the inside of the change function with a simple "alert("i changed");" statement so that you can verify it is firing correctly when the value changes.

comment How can I archiving gmail hosted emails on SharePoint Server
It's tough to use SharePoint as an email archival tool. It's difficult to do well out-of-the-box, even if you are using Exchange/Outlook. Your best bet would be to wire up some automation around the process I described above, and have a scheduled job that runs periodically. Even if you pull this off, the usability of the email suffers. It never feels like you are browsing an 'inbox'. The emails, especially if they are HTML based, will render incorrectly. Attachments are yet another challenge.
