I'm a developer for a small dev shop with some pretty awesome projects. I specialize in .NET, but can hold my own in JavaScript, SharePoint, and Fly Fishing. I blog about generally nerdy stuff over here and am writing a book about Trello over here.

comment Does Adobe PDF iFilter 11 use the same GUID
No, I just read that you couldn't override the OOB iFilters in 2013. It was on the internet, so it must be true.

I've considered that, but we're going to 2013 soon and from what I'm reading it's not supported in 2013?

How has SP2013's PDF crawl performance been? I'm seeing .5 docs per second with Adobe's iFilter in 2010

comment What is the syntax for a search query that returns items that link to a given url
The document contains a link to x. So, "all pages or documents that contain a link to somesite/somepage";. The crawler has to maintain this info to be able to crawl, so it stands to reason it's available somehow...

comment Possible to pick and choose which Managed Metadata Columns show in the Refinement Panel?
To clarify: "You can set the Title attribute value to the name of a Managed Property corresponding to a field you'd like to display." See 'Metadata Properties' in your search service app for a list of them.

comment How does one disable Office Web Apps for a given Site Collection or Web Application?
That's essentially what the powershell script Anders provided does. But, as noted there, even with that feature disabled, documents can open in the browser. This is especially a problem in anonymous sites or with non-ie browsers where SharePoint cannot detect Office.
