Connect web part to list on separate Sharepoint Instance That would work, but I want to be able to experiment with new page design in the new site, not duplicate the original. I'd prefer to have it display the actual up-to-date content if possible. |

What is neccesary to write to filesystem from a Web Part? I don't get how that is able to elevate beyond the WSS Minimal trust setting on the the AppPool, but working nonetheless! |

What is neccesary to write to filesystem from a Web Part? Yes, same domain. Your speculation regarding the batch process is not far off. This is an app operating on an external datatype and producing a file on a share. Only the UI is in Sharepoint. It doesn't really relate to any other Sharepoint content. In general, I would agree. |
