comment Automated Quota report via Powershell
Yes, you are correct. I was still sorting on a string. I've updated the code to use a separate expression for formatting that is used when building the table after the sort.

Sorry I'm not understanding. What do you mean when you say the files are "local?"

Chrome and Firefox both should allow you to click on a document and perform some sort of action (in most cases download). Chrome and Firefox are both supported for downloading documents.

This script appears on a TechNet page, I'm not sure which is the original source ;) technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee837418(v=office.14).aspx

<newurl> should be replaced with the URL of the search center you're looking to use. Don't enter <newurl> verbatim.

comment How do I fix a degraded SharePoint 2013 index partition when there is only one of them?
Alternatively to recreating the entire search service application you could try instead creating and activating a new topology with a new index component. This way you won't lose any of your search service configurations.

comment Restore-SPSite to the same content database
@PeterX I think you may have a different issue. The bug I've described happens when you delete a site collection and then attempt to restore it.

comment Restore-SPSite to the same content database
Are you receiving the error after deleting the site collection? Are you trying to restore a site collection over an existing site collection that has never been deleted?

comment How to use SharePoint Online my site host location with SharePoint 2013 on-premises?
This is pretty clever and it seems to me to be a lot of work for something that should work out of the box. Maybe a future release will make your (awesome) solution obsolete :S

comment Audit the adminstrator
Handing someone the keys to the house means they can look at everything inside. By virtue of SharePoint's permission model you can't outsource all administration to someone but have them not be able to access content. You need an administrator you can trust.

comment Can't create User Profile AD mapping using PowerShell in 2013
It looks like to me that you're calling a method intended for the UPS method but you're using the Active Directory Import... Are you required to use the Active Directory Import method or can you sync profiles using the UPS (note the UPS method is the SP2010 method and can be used to sync AD)?

comment Should my farm account be in the local admins group?
Your third party backup software shouldn't be using the farm service account, but instead a dedicated service account that has been granted the appropriate permissions on the servers and in the farm.

comment Disable Anonymous Authentication results in Access denied/401 on root site
You should turn anonymous authentication in IIS back on as this is required to support claims. Anonymous in IIS does not explicitly equate to anonymous in SharePoint.

comment Disable Anonymous Authentication results in Access denied/401 on root site
You're disabling Anonymous authentication in IIS? Is the web application using claims authentication? If so, my understanding is that with claims IIS passes the users to SharePoint to handle the authentication. To do this, you require anonymous authentication at the IIS level. I'm not sure why /pages/default.aspx would work though.

The script block doesn't include the pssnapin so this is likely the issue.
