By day, I'm a mild-mannered SharePoint infrastructure consultant for a Microsoft Gold partner. By night, I sleep. I've been working with SharePoint since 2006.
I have taken the time to write a few Microsoft exams and in turn Microsoft has graciously granted me the following certifications:

Remove server (that no longer exists) from 2010 farm? You've started a SharePoint.SE vs. MS Forums race to the answer! Who will win? ONLY TIME WILL TELL. |

Using web services to create a meeting; need to generate a uid Right, though when you compare the GUIDs generated on the first page with the type 1 GUIDs on the second page, (at least for me) they are very similar. Site 1: E6DE9E60-B71E-11E1-BD36-C20D6288709B, site 2: f00a3c10-b71e-11e1-afa6-0800200c9a66. Note the B71E-11E1 parts that are in common. |

Using web services to create a meeting; need to generate a uid The generated GUIDs on that page look to be of type 1, i.e. they are based on the time and system they are run on. There is a link at the bottom to another online generator that allows you to generate type 4 (random) GUIDs. |

SharePoint 2007 and Large Excel files Are there any errors? What type of connection is between the user and SharePoint? In other words, how long does it take to upload the file? In addition to the maximum upload size, there is an IIS Timeout that needs to be large enough to accomodate the upload. By default it is 120 seconds, so if the upload takes longer than 2 minutes I would suggest increasing the timeout. See microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/… |

Can an InfoPath Form call a PowerShell script that makes use of the submitted form values? Will you please help me understand how what I am asking breaks the basic principles of security? |

TIFF IRM Protector I think the issue you will find is that for IRM to work, the filetype needs to be IRM-aware. The custom IRM protector documentation you'll find is to apply IRM to filetypes that you have created. If I have a picture viewer that is not IRM aware (pictview.com), will it still be able to open the TIFF? Will the TIFF still be a properly formatted TIFF? |

Can an InfoPath Form call a PowerShell script that makes use of the submitted form values? (For the example of AD accounts) The business requirement is to have a user account automatically created after the form is submitted. The purpose of integrating an InfoPath form and PowerShell is that they accomplish two different tasks: on the front end, InfoPath provides a user-friendly collection (and documentation) system, and on the back end, a PowerShell script developed by the IT department automates the account creation. My question is how can I integrate the two components? |

Can an InfoPath Form call a PowerShell script that makes use of the submitted form values? The InfoPath Forms services cmdlets are more or less for managing InfoPath Forms services. It does not appear to me that any of these can be used as a way of extracting data. |

Need to upload 2-3gb in a doc library What is the error you receive after 1700 MB? |

TIFF IRM Protector This doesn't really answer OP's question -- OP was asking if there was already a 3rd party TIFF IRM protector so they would not have to go to the trouble of writing one. |

Need to upload 2-3gb in a doc library I may have misunderstood the question. If OP is trying to store a 2-3 GB file (i.e. a single file) then my answer applies. |

Need to upload 2-3gb in a doc library I just realised, do you have a file that is 2-3 GB in size or multiple files that together have a size of 2-3 GB? If so, how large are the files in general? |

Can an InfoPath Form call a PowerShell script that makes use of the submitted form values? This is an interesting suggestion, as it introduces a workflow concept to the solution so it's clear whether the PS processing has run or not. This makes me think using a well known and supported 3rd party workflow tool may be better suited than building this myself. |

Can an InfoPath Form call a PowerShell script that makes use of the submitted form values? That's a good point, I didn't consider whether you could even call a PowerShell script from SharePoint... |

Sharepoint 2010 > Central Admin > Create special permission I see you've already selected an answer to your question, which to me sounds like you were looking for someone else to back you up in denying the request. Let's flip this on it's head: what information does Marketing need? Do they have suggestions or want to make changes to the search service configuration? You can delegate service administration to groups or users, so what you are trying to accomplish may be possible. I think if we better understand your goals you may receive a less general answer. |

Update-SPSolution does not Deploy Solution As much as I hate it, the deactivate, retract, delete, add, deploy, activate dance is effective. It reminds me though of those installers that would pop up with a message box "Product X is already installed! Uninstall Product X before upgrade to Product X.1!" We use Update-Solution whenever we're deploying a solution that has been updated (bug fixes, feature enhancements, etc) |
