If so, my understanding is that with claims IIS passes the users to SharePoint to handle the authentication. To do this, you require anonymous authentication at the IIS level. I'm not sure why /pages/default.aspx would work though.

I suspect this won't work if the site in SP2013 is using the SP2010 look and feel (SPWeb.UIVersion will report 14 instead of 15), though in that case you would probably want it to activate since it will look as expected.

Mar 13	comment	TFS SharePoint no longer talking to each other I'm not sure I understand your comment about lack of support. Have you contacted Microsoft? After the updates, have you run the SharePoint configuration wizard?
