How do I add a list to the master page? I think if I have to do that my approach must be deeply flawed. |

How do I set a site collection's list view to be inherited? Should I create a new content type or edit the default? |

How is content type inheritance set? I did create the Content Type (and associated site columns) at the Site Collection root, yet there is no inheritance to sub sites. Maybe a setting somewhere that I missed? |

SharePoint Admin account permissions failed I didn't. As background, I was installing a single server farm into a VM, which is fraught with all types of problems and gotchas. I would avoid doing so if I had to do it again. |

Moving a Site Collection from SharePoint 2010 Foundation to SharePoint Server 2010 Correct, I was running the command under the wrong username. I needed to be running PowerShell under the Farm Administrator account. User privileges are incredibly challenging to understand and manage. I also needed to ensure that the site template was the same, although I had read that the Blank template was required. In this case I went from Team Site to Team Site. |

SharePoint Admin account permissions failed Yes, and I updated my question to reflect this fact more clearly. |

Why does New-SPConfigurationDatabase Fail? The PassPhrase is not the user's password. Tt is used to secure farm communications. |

Why does New-SPConfigurationDatabase Fail? Make sure your accounts have proper permission in Windows and SQL Server. Make sure you use the domain name when entering your Farm account credentials. Make you your passphrase is conforming. Also, if you are using a VM, snapshot first! |

SharePoint License for Database Server From the link above "When using SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites to license external-facing scenarios, you need a license on all servers that will be used for external content, regardless of farm configuration or if users are directly accessing the server (staging, application, front-end, or index)." Vague language, but they do not specifically mention the database. Funny thing is, my contention is supported by a Microsoft rep! |

SharePoint 2010 VS development: Intellisense for ASPX files Can we assume that Intellisense works otherwise in non-SharePoint projects? |
