Using BCS and External Content Types to create Publishing Pages I think Chris is definitely heading in the right direction here although I'm not clear if this is a public site with anonymous users. If so I would set up a proof of concept to test anonymous user access to user profile information (never needed to do it so don't know if it is possible or requires extra configuration). Otherwise, just use a simple ECT exposing all the bio information but the important point that Chris makes is leveraging search to minimise/exclude custom development. |

Reusing and parameterising BCS External Content Types Benjamin, that's a great question that I could easily spend 2 hours over a few beers discussing :). The reason that my project HAD to use BCS (IMO) was that we needed SSRS level reporting plus the SP2010 interface so the decision was virtually made for us. |

Reusing and parameterising BCS External Content Types omlin - I really want to dust off my blog and put something back into the community with my hard earned lessons on BCS from the past 6 months! |

SharePoint 2010 user profile updates permissions Thanks Wictor (and SPDoctor), that has worked with one of the domain accounts I have set up however it is still not working with another that has less privilages. At least I can now work through the AD permissions on both accounts to determine precisely what permissions are required to update user profiles. |
