Hello, I'm Kobi. I'm 28 years old and live in Israel with my wife Suzi.
I'm a programmer. I like programming, which is good. I work at HP as a web developer. I work a lot with Asp.net, HTML, CSS and JavaScript (mostly using jQuery when I can). As a part of my job I'm also developing in Oracle PL/SQL and SharePoint.

In my free time I like using the internet, reading books, and always being with Suzi.

Feel free to contact me:

comment What are good ways around the List View Threshold?
This is what we ended up doing. We figured the threshold is there to warn us about potential problems, but we really had a system with many items. I would also note it is possible to disable throttling per list: SPList.EnableThrottling (using code or sp manager)

Doesn't it stand to reason that a small asp.net site will take less memory than the whole of SharePoint?

Hello. This isn't a programming question, so you may have better luck on SharePoint.

Thanks, but I think you missed the point of the question. It's more about the SharePoint side, not the Open Source side...

Thanks. It isn't that simple, I'm afraid - When I run a query by code I can specifically request to use SPQueryThrottleOption.Override, and then I get the higher limit of 20000. It isn't automatically served to administrators as the name suggest. See also these two posts. 20000 should be enough, and I may write a solution that deployed such a service, but I'm hoping for an OOTB solution, like what worked for me on 2007.
