No, you don't have to open, you might have a SPList or a SPListItem object and navigate from property to the SPWeb. Like: SPList.ParentWeb or SPListItem.Web.

Hi, thanx for tip with single ExecuteQueryAsync, you are right. I did test by removing the ListItem load but that didn't change. See the answer next.

comment Crawling some external sites failed
I did try the lookpback stuff. But is not that case here. I'm not crawling my own SharePoint WebApp. It's an external public site that I want to crawl. They are other public sites that my SharePoint server can crawl, but not that one. Why ?

comment Changing WebPartZone properties in code
Thanx Chris, to setup those properties to webparts was the first thing I did try. But in my case, I have the view form (DispForm.aspx) with webparts in it. Why I have that ? Well when contrib. user clicks on "View Item" from ECB menu, I add more webparts connected with the current item being displayed. So far so good, BUT the contributor user then has the possibility to close or delete the webparts on this page (DispForm.aspx). Is doesn't make any sense to me. Since DispForm.aspx is a web part page, why a user with edit permision on the recored displayed can also close other webparts ?

comment Can application pages be attached to a specific list
How do you know that ? And I'm not agree with that article at all. Using javascript/jquery it is and will be a great way to improve/customize SharePoint controls. Some sp controls simply can't be changed. So "this kind of stuff" was available since SP2003, it is for SP2007 and I'm sure will be too for SP2010. Adding js is not a danger, don't be afraid we are living in a web world.

comment Mutliple solutions using shared dlls can cause havoc when individual solutions are retracted
Why struggle with WSPBuilder ? I'm using STSDEV. Edit the SolutionConfig.xml and I can decide what dlls to add and where (GAC/Bin). The requirement is to have that helper dll in the debug\bin when doing a DebugBuild.

comment 64 bit vs. 32 bit - Significantly longer time to attach the debugger
I'm using 64-bit and also 32-bit live windows servers to devel sharepoint apps. but I don't have your problem, there is not diff. when attaching to debuger. So yes, more details are required.

OK, but if the app is on client server and client reports bugs. Is more easy for client to send you only the logs generated by your app (by email), right ?! This is one reason why I do prefer to have log files separated.
