comment Outgoing Email Not Configured
The SMTP service Role is running on the same server (please see the new screenshot above). The problem is I have install/upgraded SP 2010 SP1 on Windows Server 2012. According to this MSDN article (msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631899.aspx): "You can’t install SharePoint Foundation 2010 on Windows Server 2012. If you want to use the standard configuration on Windows Server 2012, you must skip the installation of SharePoint Foundation 2010."

comment Outgoing Email Not Configured
I removed the first entry by clicking on "Remove Server", went to configure outgoing e-mail settings, enter the mail settings, click OK, went back to "manage servers in farm" page, still says Not Configured. If I click on the server (first column), I get access denied. But, I can remove the server.

comment sharepoint 2010 Remote Blob Storage , RemoteBlobStorageSettings is false
You should not install the RBS client library by double clicking the RBS_X64.msi (which will run the wizard). Instead, you must use the msiexec command to run the msi file. This is because running the wizard will set certain default values that are not recommended for SharePoint. technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748631.aspx In fact, in the article you are referencing in your question, they also mention this.

comment Backup via SharePoint or backup via SQL Server?
One option missing in this list, which IMO is by far the best option, is third-party backup tools. There is a cost but it is well worth the cost because it lowers the management overhead and cost, and backup/recovery time span is much less.

comment How Can I Enable Editing for User Information AD Properties?
Sorry I didn't see the "no" :) I am guessing then the UPS application is not pulling all the AD information. Someone with UPS application expertise can answer that.

When you manage user permissions using AD groups, individual user profiles are not expanded until that individual user makes a change in SP. You can verify this by using the steps above. If you still cannot edit the user profile information then you have some other issues.

Using SSRS you are not limited to using SQL, you can use other data sources, such as SharePoint List Data Extension, mentioned by @Russel.

Try the above steps. Pick a user (user X). On the top right corner. Log as user X. Edit something. Log back in with your credentials. Can you update the user X UP information.

comment Computer's Requirement Enough for Sharepoint 2010
I am using an external SSD with USB 2.0 interface. I am not noticing any latency issues. The performance is very good for my dev/evaluation needs. The bandwidth rate for USB 3.0 (if properly used, right cable) is higher than SATA interface (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_device_bit_rates#Peripheral). But, I agree with you that investing in SSD will give him more performance than investing on the connection interface.

Very nicely put! My experience is that if you force SP on the users, they will resist it or start complaining about it.
