comment “Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ServerUnauthorizedAccessException” while executing Query in Sharepoint app model
This resolved my issue as well. But, I am creating a Provider-hosted app running in Office 365. This what I noticed. The very first time you deploy your App to the Office 365 Developer Site, you will get the JS access denied error. To fix it, I set the permission of the scope in the AppManifest.xml file to FullControl. Deploy & ran the App. Didn't accept/deny the trust, I stopped the debugger. Again, I set the permission back to Read. Deploy & ran the App. This time I did not get any JS errors and I accepted App trust.

comment Cannot connect to sharepoint 2013 from visual studio 2013 when creating an app
This error can also happen if using VS 2013 update 4, create new App for SharePoint project (.NET FW 4.5.1), enter your office 365 developer site, select Provider-hosted app, select ASP.NET Web Forms App, select use Windows Azure Access control Service for authentication.

comment How to stop SQL time out issue
I would start by checking the lag time. Is the SP farm and the SQL Server in the same data center? ping from a SP server to the SQL server, for a duration of 10 minutes (ping SERVER -n 600). Make sure the intra-farm latency is < 1ms. Next, is this a custom code you have created? Do you have a dedicated SQL Server for your SP DBs? Is your custom code calling an LOB DB? Maybe other LOB applications are competing for resources on that SQL Server? I don't recommend you change the timeout settings as this will effect other operations in your SP farm. You have find out what is causing the timeout.

comment how to create MySite & ContentType Hub in HNSC
To make a clarification. You can create a My Site site collection as a HNSC. But, when the user's My Sites are provisioned the OOB provisioning will use the self-service site creation, which is Path-Based Site Collection (PBSC). If you want your My Sites to be 100% HNSC, then you will need to implement your own custom self-service site provisioning using HNSC. The following link clarifies things (especially the comments): blogs.technet.com/b/tothesharepoint/archive/2013/05/17/…

comment managed metadata service database information
As Anita says, the schema on the SP DBs (excluding the Usage DB) should not be changed. Why? because later when you update your SP farm it will break. The proper method to retrieve the metadata information is within the SP or if creating a custom solution and you want to utilize the taxonomy use SP object models.

comment SharePoint Branding and Parallax Scrolling
Parallax Scrolling looks nice on the milwaukeepolicenews.com site. Of course, parallax scrolling is not for every scenario. In Fact, at times I feel it can make users dizzy :) In general, I feel SP UI OOB still needs a lot of work. IMHO, the screenshot (which I'm more interested in now) in my post looks very modern and sleek :) thanks for the links.

comment How do I create a second Central Admin in a different language on the same server?
+1 You cannot install multiple Central Administration Web sites on the same server. You can install Central Administration Web site on multiple servers in the SharePoint farm. A good reason to do this is for high availability, incase the primary Central Administration Web site goes down. But not for the reason of handling multiple languages.

comment Could not find endpoint element with name '' and contract '' in the ServiceModel client configuration section
I mean <System.serviceModel>...</System.serviceModel>. Copy that section and place it in your main SharePoint web.config file (in IIS, find your SharePoint virtual directory, there is a webconfig; make sure you save a copy before you edit). Your code is trying to find an endpoint for your WCF service; it cannot find it, because you have not specified an endpoint in your SP web.config.

Have you tried putting the web service configuration (Service.ServiceModel tag) in the SharePoint's web.config?

I agree with you. I have to eventually convince our IT Admin to migrate this server to a domain. Or, convince him to create a separate sever as a domain controller.

After you ran the SharePoint Product Configuration Wizard, I assume you received a successful message. Do you see any warnings in the logs after running the wizard?

comment SharePoint 2010 — Visual Studio Project Structure
The important thing to remember is that you should maintain consistency and clarity when designing your project structure. You should also watch out of long solution/project/file names. I have seen people use the project namespace as the project name, later causing long path issues. I personally try to keep the file names short but descriptive enough.
