comment Migrated 2010 Databases, but some DBs can no longer be pointed to due to alias
An alias can only point to one server, so pointing back to itself would be an infinite loop (and not work). If possible, moving your app dbs to SQL2 would be ideal.

Do you have a Form Library or are you customising a custom list?

The actions you are after are "Submit Data" and "Close the Form." office.microsoft.com/en-au/infopath-help/…

There is a "Select the action" on the form webpart (office.microsoft.com/en-au/sharepoint-help/…), and also inside infopath, you can add rules to the button instead of making it submit directly. You can add a submit action and then a close the form action straight after. I have done this recently with success.

comment Delete all survey responses
I have assumed a relatively small/medium sized list for the deletion code. If you have a large list, you may be better of using a batch deletion command to improve performance.

comment How long does Upgrade-SPSite takes to upgrade a site collection?
As another test after this completes, you could try running Test-SPSite to do a site collection health check. This may highlight any specific issues (other than the large no. subsites).

Did you specify VersionUpgrade as a parameter? Or just Build-to-build upgrade?

I know you are doing this to test the upgrade path to 2013, but it could be a good opportunity to split that many subsites into separate site collections (perhaps, for example in the SP2010 environment) which will help with maintenance in the future.

Plus a very cool feature.
