comment Can I insert multiple People Search Core Result Web Parts on the same page?
Hi Luccio. In terms of using multiple queries on the same page, I ultimately found that keeping the "Cross-Web Part query ID" set to "User Query" and applying my query to the "Append Text To Query" field on each web part enabled me to use as many as 12 different People Search Core Results web parts on the same page with no issues. In terms of the other issue of distinguishing between the departmental names (for example, "Management" and "Project Management") I didn't come up with a solution and instead I just renamed "Management" to "Central Management" and worked around the issue.

comment User Profile Images - where are resize and compression quality settings?
The closest discussion that I've been able to find on the subject is here: social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/… I'm ideally looking for a settings change somewhere within Sharepoint to resolve this (looking unlikely at this point), or some kind of 3rd party software that can create these 3 sizes of image quickly and easily (without the need for coding/scripting expertise) and in better quality than Sharepoint seems to be able to generate them.

Apparently, Sharepoint creates three resized versions of the original uploaded image: 144px, 96px and 32px in 2010 (or 300px, 72px and 48px in 2013). You can find these newly generated, renamed and resized images in the folder structure if you look for them. I had considered simply going straight into this folder structure and uploading images created outside of Sharepoint to replace them, but this isn't practical or efficient in the long-term.

comment Possible to create an 'Updated!' icon similar to the 'New!' icon?
I have to admit, I'm stunned that there isn't more support for this type of "Updated" icon requirement. If Microsoft have already gone to the trouble of helping to clearly differentiate newly added content with a special icon, then why not clearly mark newly modified/updated content as well?

Haha, I know what you mean about overlooking the simple details, but the gif file is in the folder and I've viewed it on a direct link to make sure it displays ok. SP often seems to give the impression of being straightforward when trying to do something - but then just isn't. :-/
