Transferring a site's page is showing a blank page I've come to a conclusion on this: it's not practical to transfer a page this way. Your suggestion is technically correct, but trying to paste the contents doesn't work because the list IDs aren't matching up like you say. The only solution I see is to just re-create the page instead of wasting time battling with SP Designer. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though. |

Transferring a site's page is showing a blank page Thanks for finding that nice workaround. I was able to edit the page and I'm testing it now. |

Transferring a site's page is showing a blank page So when I go to the aspx file in SPD and click "Edit File", I get "This page cannot be edited in SharePoint Designer. You can edit the content in the browser, or edit the corresponding page layout in SharePoint Designer." I don't think I want to edit the page layout, though... |

Transferring a site's page is showing a blank page Just tried opening the aspx page in SP Designer from the "Pages" document library of the site. It wouldn't let me open it in SPD, but it said I could edit it from the browser (selecting this does show the web parts of the page in IE) |

Transferring a site's page is showing a blank page Sure, I go to the list item's dropdown menu (edit menu on the "Name" column) and click "Send To -> Download a Copy" to get the .aspx file. Now that you mention it, when I open it in a text editor it doesn't seem to have my content inside it! |

Transferring a site's page is showing a blank page I found this: stackoverflow.com/questions/3506845/… but am not sure how exactly to do this "copy-pasting" into a whole other SP environment |

Transferring a site's page is showing a blank page Fair enough, but why wouldn't other web parts show, like the default Announcements view, or a CEWP, for example? The page I copied over is completely blank. |

Save list item to desktop What type of file do you want the list item to be saved as? And what exactly kind of status change would trigger this? You should provide more detailed information in your question. |

publishing infopath drop-down value makes me choose a function Hard to tell from your screenshot, but if you scroll up in that dialog is your field in a "repeating section"? It would have a little blue arrow on the folder icon. |

Web.config was wiped out by Visual Studio I'll have to see what the exact error was, but thank you very much for the suggestions. Currently trying to restore the config file from a server backup image. |

Web.config was wiped out by Visual Studio See, the thing is that there were backups and those were wiped out as well. I knew exactly what I wanted to change in the file (set executionTimeout in httpHandlers tag), so it wasn't an issue of me changing the wrong thing in the file. It seems to be an inexplicable glitch with VisualStudio not allowing the file to be edited in the first place. Strangely, trying to replace the config file from another server's web.config results in a 403 Not Logged In error. I'll try your suggestion but in the future I will back up the file in a non-\80 folder as well as try with a different editor! |
