Adding default “Created” column to content type The library is unfortunately not negotiable. Part of the third-party product is a custom library template that cannot be changed easily and without migrating a ton of content. |

Adding default “Created” column to content type Brilliant. This worked for me. It's kind of a hack, but one made necessary by the way SharePoint handles standard columns. Thank you! |

Adding default “Created” column to content type It needs to be added to the content type so this third-party tool can access the information and embed it in the XML files stored in the library. Essentially, I need the created date to travel with the XML file when it is not physically in the library anymore. This tool cannot access the Created column directly, and I cannot use a calculated column. If there is another way to get the data captured by the Created column into a column I can add to a content type, I'm all ears. |

Add “New document” button to home page Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid, though, that you've lost me at step 2. There are no forms associated with these content types, and so they have no URL. When I click Documents > New Document, I just get a Word document based on the template. There is no intermediate window that appears from which I could grab a URL. |

Add “New document” button to home page That was my suspicion -- and I couldn't see a way to access the javascript from the UI. I'll try your solution, which I'm sure will work. |

Add “New document” button to home page Thank you -- I did try to locate the URL but there was no option to "Copy Shortcut" when right-clicking on the content type menu option. I'll poke into the page code a bit more to see what I can find. |

Add “New document” button to home page Thank you -- I do not currently have permissions to use Designer for this particular site, but I think I can get an exception long enough to try this out. Will post back when I am able to test. |
