comment Workflows do not continue after user completes a task nor do they update task outcome and percentage
IIRC, when tried on fresh SharePoint installation things worked. We then narrowed the problem to the usage of external content types. Funny thing is, the ECTs did not appear to be tied to any of the content types, workflows and/or tasks. Didn't have too much time to waste, so we just created new task list to replace OOTB one.

Um, you mean the link in OP where it says "..., the links are in correct format (file:///F:/dir1/dir2/readme.txt)."?

comment spgridview clear filter programmatically
When user clicks "Clear filter" in SPGridView header cell menu, a postback with "SPGridView;__Filter__;__ClearFilter__" parameter is sent. So basically, when you call this method on your button click, you are mimicking user action. Internally the grid will call its SetFilterFieldName and SetFilterFieldValue which will clear the FilterFieldName property. And no, it will not clear the filter every time; it will only clear it if you call the method.

+1 just for the idea of offsets. Might work with values <Or>'ed together.

Third option did the trick. I just had to use Number for the type instead of Integer.

@Stuart: No, I'm using 2010, but it seems DateTime values aren't to happy with <In> operator.

Has anybody tried this? I'm getting "<nativehr>0x80070057</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>" error. Either SP does not support DateTime and IN operator or I really have to sleep.
