SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Scenario:

Document set that has allowed content types. This document set has an Information Management Policy that includes a retention schedule. Some of the allowed content types also have a retention schedule.

My suspicion is that it doesn't matter whether the retention policy is on the document set or on the content. Which ever has an earlier trigger date will be the policy listened to.

Does anyone have experience with this? My desire would be to have the Document set IMP take precedence. This way other IMP settings such as label setting will come from the document set and not the content type in the document set. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks!
