Has anyone solved the issue with the filters on a SharePoint 2007 DVWP? I get "this column type cannot be filtered"

I have a DVWP on on the bottom of my dispform.aspx page that displays the Activity, Office, Priority, POC etc.

I know this is an old problem where in SharePoint Designer under Data View Properties you set "Enable sorting and filtering on column headers (basic table layout only) and yet it does not work.

<xsl:with-param name="sortable">1</xsl:with-param>

<xsl:with-param name="fieldtype">x.string</xsl:with-param>

I've read a couple of blogs about modifying the xsl but what is the exact lines of code and where in the table do you place them.

Someone suggested adding:

<xsl:with-param name="filterable">1</xsl:with-param>

no luck!

Any help is appreciated.

Can you be more specific, some column types are not able to be filter because they play a special role... (ie Links to the document or Document set, etc...) – Michael Saulnier Aug 16 '13 at 13:24
Specify the type of column you want to filter on so we can help. It's possible that it can be filtered in the XSLT markup and not through the GUI. – Eric Alexander Aug 16 '13 at 15:05
