I have 2 farms, one is 2007 and the main one is 2010. In 2010, I have 2 content sources, one for each SP site. I believe everything is getting indexed correctly because I do see results from both when I do a search. However, the results are not as accurate and consistent as expected.

From the root of my SP site, if I enter a term into the search box, it goes to my search center and displays the results. Well, most of them but not all. If I search again from the search center for the same content (in fact, I can just click the search icon) I get results from both farms.

In the Search settings for the main site collection at the root, I have "Do not use custom scopes" set and ".../Search/results.aspx" for the Search Results Page. Am I using the wrong results page or do I need to include a query string with that?

I'm curious, did you find an answer to your problem? I'm about to configure the same thing but with 2010 and 2013. – George Norberg Nov 28 '13 at 7:42
Actually no, I did not find a solution. We ended up not using the 2007 farm, so this was not an issue anymore. – Badkneecap Dec 17 '13 at 15:09
