I have created a few columns to a existing contentype that is up on the production. Which means I cant make a deploy of the wsp, only upgrades. after the upgrades the columns wont show up.

There is two bad ways of fixing this so it shows up:

  1. Deactivate/activate the feature - I cant do this beacuse webparts and other stuffs will be duplicated and just a big mess.

  2. Create a new feature which is not a good way also.

So my question stands, is there any good way to accomplish this?

I was thinkin of adding the columns by the UI but it wont be resource managed, maby a powershell script that could add the columns and also the resource names?

Any kind of tips is appreciated.

Have you read Chris O Brians excellent introduction to feature upgrading? sharepointnutsandbolts.com/2010/06/… He specifically talks about changes to fields and content types. –  Robert Lindgren Jun 12 '13 at 19:09
