I'm using WSS 3.0 and SharePoint designer 2007.
I have been asked to create a "Training List" for students where for each entry they list their name, the procedure they've been shown and the trainer that demonstrated it. A workflow is then started which informs the trainer that they need to confirm the training occurred and set up a review date and reviewer. After a number of reviews the student will eventually be qualified as competent to perform the procedure alone. Eventually the student will be taught how to demonstrate the procedure and become qualified in training the procedure.
What is important during the student entry is that the trainer/reviewer are qualified in demonstrating the procedure. That information is contained in the current "Training List" and is found by returning all students qualified in that procedure.
I've created a Trainers SharePoint group and was going to create a second workflow which prompts the trainer/reviewer to add the student to the group once they're qualified. However the group contains all trainers and not all trainers are qualified in all procedures.
Is it possible using SharePoint Designer and Workflows to filter the list in some way to show only qualified trainers and make it available for filling in the form.
Alternatively can a workflow prevent a form from closing if the reviewer isn't qualified for the procedure?
Is there a better approach?
I have programming experience but unfortunately not in C#, .NET or the SharePoint environment. The only experience I have is using SharePoint Designer workflows.
Is it possible to produce this list and workflow using SharePoint Designer?
Any feedback appreciated.
