According to this question (How do I convert a Infopath form created in sharepoint to Word), it have three solution:
- Using Copy and Paste
- Using Programming to read XML and merge Templates
- Using converting tools
I have tried the
Copy and Paste method, which does not really copy quite well. The result was lots of icons over here and there.
Programming method was tedious and one need to change the code if the form design has changed. There is also another page that details the steps (http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/convert-infopath-form-into-word-2007-document-xslt-c-sharp.htm) and as mention before, it was tedious and change of code is required if form design has changed.
converting tools method looks promising but however, it is quite costly.
So, is there a solution that is fastest and easiest for a layman to export a web-based infopath form in SharePoint 2007 to a Microsoft Word document (can be either a .doc or .docx file format).
Something like a plugin to the Internet browser and when the user click print, it print as a doc file. (Other better solution would be greatly appreciated.)
Also, it would be better if it is a button in the web-based form and when clicked, the word document version of the form appear right in front of the user.
