I am creating a leave planner with provision for approval in SharePoint with a Gantt Chart view of the leaves.
The requirements are
Add a new leave entry with start date, end date (status of entry will be 'submitted')
Send Mail to the approver once the user submits the leave entry
- Approver approves or rejects the request
- Accordingly, mail is sent to the user and the leave entry in the SharePoint is updated with status ('rejected' or 'approved')
- A gantt chart view of the leave plan showing all the entries
What is the best way to do it in SharePoint?
Note : When I researched on this topic, I found out that I can do this partially (without gantt chart view) if I am doing it using a 'Custom List' and 'SharePoint Workflow'. As I am not well versed in SharePoint, I thought of posting here to see if I am missing a better way to do it.
