My client wants to migrate their filenet document management system to SharePoint 2013. The migrated filenet in sharepoint will be accessible both from internet and intranet SharePoint sites. They want to use the google enterprise search as their search tool on both internet and intranet. Some of the documents will be exposed to internet users and most of the documents will be exposed to internal users. The intranet site has 9000 users that will just search and download the documents using the google enterprise search and few users (500) will upload the documents on dms. Based from given scenario, what is the best SharePoint Topology to implement? Single or Two Farm(s)? Should i have a separate server for google search? or is't okey to put it on app server?
a. Single Farm (using AAM to separate internet and intranet)
- 1 WFE, 1 App, 1 SQL
b. Two Farm
1 WFE, 1 App, 1 Google Enterprise, 1 SQL (for Internet)
1 WFE, 1 App, 1 SQL (for Intranet)
Note: Is it advisable to share the SQL for Internet and Intranet setup?
