I'm searching among several hundred libraries, each containing a unique report. The plan is to search using advenced search so I can search the various custom columns and metadata we've created.
challenge 1 - The client does NOT want users to have to select scope or path to narrow the search to one library/report. The plan is to select the report, and be presented with the advanced search page with the report type loaded in the background.
As there are so many reports (and more to come) creating scopes for each library would be a bear, unless there's an automated way to do so.
Challenge 2 - Advanced Search is a sealed type, so I can't get into it.
What seems like the simplest way to get what I want is if I could add a parameter to the call for the advanced search page, containing the path of the desired library. After the search is built and the URL to results buils, tack on the path parameter as a "u".
So the url generated by advanced search would be (for example):
and the resulting URL would be
I see there's also a way to add a DEFAULT scope in Advenced search, but I need to change the scope dynamically, and as said before, there are MANY scopes.
So, several questions that may get me to my answer:
Has anyone seen either an accessible version of Advanced Search that I can get into and add the aforementioned code?
Is there a way to dynamically change the default scope?
- If so, is there an automated way to build a whole mess of scopes?
