SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I help support my company's Public Website and we're a organization that supports the power grid. Our site is basically a big document repository that provides the information our participants need to run their businesses.

On our Public Site, we've tried many different things to communicate to people. We currently use Mailing Lists and at one time we were going to allow people to subscribe to update alerts on documents, but we never got the system off the ground.

I made it a performance goal to fix the Alert Code. I keep thinking about ways I could offer to deliver messages OTHER than Email when a Doc is updated on a subcription basis, but haven't come up with much.

What ideas am I not thinking of to update people when a doc changes?
