SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Scenario: I have a List that is customized using Infopath form. It has only 2 fields. Title and a File Attachment.

Problem: There are 2 users who have access to this list. User A has Add Item rights and User B has and Add Item & Edit Item rights.

When User A tries to add item to the list using the browser enabled Infopath form, the attachment field comes disabled. However he is able to fill the title and create a new item without attachment.

User B can add file attachment without problems. The only difference between them is Edit Item rights in the permission levels that are granted to them.

I have tried to replicate this scenario across different farms and behavior is the same. Additionally, if the Infopath form is disabled on the list , User A can attach file directly to the list through the OOTB add item form view.
